News from Govardhan, November 14th Part Two

Dear devotees,

Please accept my dandavat pranams. All glories to Srila Gurudeva and Srila Prabhupada. All glories to Sri Sri Guru and Gauranga. All glories to Sri Sri Radha-Vinodehariji.

Wow! What’s going on?

While the parikrama party was at Sanket, Ramacandra Prabhu reported that Srila Gurudeva had come out right out of his room on to the balcony in his wheelchair, and devotees had darshan. Srila Gurudeva was holding up both hands and blessing them. Ramacandra Prabhu explained that today is Gopastami, which is a very “hilarious” day in Vraja. Krishna and all His gopi and gopa associates are so happy today, celebrating very joyfully. When someone is very happy, they will be ready to give any boons to those who ask. Ramacandra Prabhu then said that at each pastime place we should pray for Srila Gurudeva’s strength and health. BV Tirtha Maharaja then led a prayer for Gurudeva. We also prayed for Srila Gurudeva at other places.

When we arrived back in the evening, we heard that Srila Gurudeva gave another darshan in his wheelchair in the evening. Within the context of what has been going on, today was a Good Day. Srila Gurudeva had rested well. He had three or four spoons of kicheree, which is the first time he has eaten anything solid for several days. He also took about the same amount of soup today as on the last few days, which is still down on what he needs. He walked with some help, took an oil massage, and sat in the sun. He also talked with devotees, sometimes very lovingly and sometimes very sharply.

At the doctors’ meeting this evening (which I was unable to attend), Madhuvrata Prabhu said that Srila Gurudeva has abruptly started being much more aware and taking much more interest of what is going on around him. This has meant that the assistants in the room actually have much more work, because Srila Gurudeva is requesting them to change the light, and telling them that he is cold, and so on, which he was not doing until very recently.

One devotee to whom Srila Gurudeva spoke lovingly this morning, made a suggestion. Although Srila Gurudeva previously made a definite decision about leaving, perhaps being surrounded by his loving devotees, he is changing that decision, or preparing to change it.

Today, after hearing Ramacandra Prabhu’s katha, I was praying for Srila Gurudeva’s health and strength, and praying for wisdom and opportunities to serve him and Srila Prabhupada in this world and in the spiritual world.

Aspiring for service Sri Hari, Guru and Vaishnavas,

B V Nemi
